Fully Loved

fullyloved

It is Valentine’s Day weekend and love is most certainly in the air. Why does the world only celebrate love one day a year? That’s only 0.27% of the year. We as Christians get to celebrate love 100% of the time! You read that right, 24/7, 365 days a year. Sounds great doesn’t it? Well, we are able to love so fully because we are fully loved. In John 15:12 we are told “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

Well, how about this, in order for us to fully love another individual, we must fully love ourselves. Easy, right? God loves us, so we love ourselves, and then we can love others! Simply said but much harder to practice. Loving myself is something I have personally struggled with for quite some time. I believe it started in middle school, everyone’s favorite years! If you couldn’t sense the sarcasm there, I’m not sure what to tell you.

I know that I am not the only one who struggles with this concept. I often have found it hard to believe that someone as amazing as our God fully loves me, why me? I constantly struggle with my self-image and worth. I’m a little bit crazy, find myself in trouble a lot, and am stubborn as all hell. Oh yeah, I’m one more thing too, I am fully loved.

I can accept the fact, yes I said the F word so it must be true, that I am completely deserving of God’s unconditional love. Psalm 139:14 tells me that “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”. Anything so wonderful and created in God’s love must be completely deserving and worthy of love. Keep that in mind, know that you have countless advocates for you, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love” [John 15:9].

You are WORTHY. You are LOVED.
